The residential developer YIT will build a kindergarten at Suomi Hloubětín, an expansive residential scheme for 2,000 people going up on 9 ha of land in Prague 9. The Finnish developer has tapped award-winning Finnish architect Jyrki Tasa to design the kindergarten. Tasa, part of the Architects NRT studio, designed buildings like the Moby-Dick family house in Espoo, the Paavo Nurmi athletics stadium in Turku and an iconic library in the Finnish city of Hollola. Tasa has designed the Suomi Hloubětín kindergarten to be energy-efficient, using natural materials and unusual shapes. He also added an exterior interactive playground. The CEO of YIT Stavo, Vladimír Dvořák, says that the company has already worked with Tasa on a number of other residential projects like Merenkulkijanranta and Konepaja in Helsinki. YIT hopes to break ground on the kindergarden in 2018, when the developer plans to get use permit for the project’s second and third phase (a total of eight are planned). Completion of the first phase, Espoo, is scheduled for September 2017.
