A new logistics and industrial centre GARBE Park Chomutov II worth more than half a billion crowns opened yesterday in the Verne industrial zone near Klášterec nad Ohří in the Chomutov Region. The construction took eight months. Representatives of the investment group Progresus and the developer and co-investor GARBE have now jointly handed over the building to the main tenant – the German manufacturer of sealing systems ISOLITE.
“We had already signed a contract with the main tenant ISOLITE to occupy more than 70 percent of the building in the spring before the construction started,” said Lukáš Zrůst, co-founder of the investment group. The German supplier of sealing systems for automotive and aerospace manufacturing occupied the hall under a ten-year lease with an option for a further ten years. It will use the 13,192 sqm space to partially relocate its plant from Ludwigshafen, Germany. It also plans to locate its own research centre there.
According to the mayor of Klášterec nad Ohří, Štefan Drozd (Party of Private Owners of the Czech Republic), the arrival of investors in the region is good news. “New jobs and a healthy competitive environment are being created. It is not just about Klášterec nad Ohří itself, but about the whole Chomutov region. In today’s turbulent times, every project that increases the economic potential and stability of the region is valuable,” he said. However, it is not certain whether the tenant will find a sufficient number of employees. Although new jobs are being created, there is often a problem in filling them because there are not enough people to do the work.
The hall, with a leasable area of about 18,000 sqm, will be connected to the GARBE Park Chomutov I complex, which is being completed, with a leasable area of about 30,000 sqm. The logistics centre was built close to the main routes of the I/13 road and the D7 motorway leading to Germany.
