ČD Cargo considers building a transport hub for the car producer Škoda Mladá Boleslav in Nymburk. The 30 ha complex would provide space to store up to 2,500 cars (space it now lacks in Mladá Boleslav) and create 200 new jobs. Negotiations with the city have been underway for more than a year. “The capacity of the Mladá Boleslav-Nymburk railway will have to be increased as-well,” says Nymburk’s deputy mayor Zdeněk Vocásek. Škoda spokesman Jozef Baláž told ČTK that Nymburk is one of the potential locations being considered in a tender currently underway. The hub must be completed no later than January 2014.
