AAT Geothermae breaks ground on geothermal project in Croatia

11 April 2016

AAT Geothermae started construction on the first phase of a new geothermal project in northern Croatia. In addition to a renewable energy power plant, the scheme, going up in Draškovec, a village in Međimurje County, will include a holistic wellness and health resort as well as a residential development with villas and apartments surrounded by a golf course. There will also be a mineral water bottling plant on-site. The total investment is estimated at €75m, with €14.7m coming from the European Commission.

“Works in Draškovec are already underway. We want to complete the power plant by the end of the year and the project is currently in the deep drilling phase. We started working on other infrastructural parts of the project such as cables connected to the main power line, and we are preparing for the construction of the access road and drainage system for power plants” said Peter Vesenjak, adviser for AAT Geothermae.
