AFI Europe Romania investing over €2 mln in office refurbishment and improving working environment

One of the challenges that office building developers are currently facing is creating the safest working environment for their tenants and their employees.

AFI Europe Romania has already implemented a set of measures to increase the health and safety standards of its buildings. Besides the thermo scanners and other measures, “AFI invested around €1 million to implement the first air purification system through ionization in Romania, which cleans the air with a rate of over 90%,” Emma Toma, Head of Office Division – AFI Europe Romania said at CEDER 2021.

The system was implemented in all of AFI Europe’s office facilities and “it was welcomed by our tenants”, said Toma.

It was created with the purpose of eliminating Covid-19, but it’s useful for other germs or bacteria. Furthermore, the developer’s buildings are going through a process of refurbishments of common areas and, wherever necessary, the restrooms.

“AFI Lakeview is going through a total refurbishment of EUR 1.2 million, which will include the communal areas, bathrooms and lobby. We are trying to create a safe environment and make the return to the office easier,” Toma explained.

AFI Europe Romania has seven office projects, five in Bucharest, the others in Brasov and Timisoara. The developer doubled its office portfolio last year when it bought its rival NEPI’s office portfolio. The company currently has close to 300,000 sqm of A class office projects.
