A billboard near the newly opened Ploiesti Shopping City has sparked a bit of controversy. The sign reads: “World fashion can be found downtown, not outside the city limits.” The ad was paid for by AFI Europe, which is building its own shopping mall in downtown Ploiesti next year.
Ploiesti Shopping City, a project by NEPI and Carrefour Property, officially opened last week, is located in a village right outside Ploiesti, close to National Road 1 (DN1), which connects Bucharest to the Prahova Valley.
Ploiesti Shopping City, a €65m investment, is currently 95 percent occupied. The tenant list includes Cinema City, Zara, H&M, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, New Yorker, Orsay, Reserved, Office Shoes, Benvenuti, Sephora and Douglas.
