The Municipal Court received a motion to arrest seven people after Tuesday’s police intervention in Brno. According to available information, the case concerns the privatization of townhouses and a company controlled by the Brno-Černovice district. The police are prosecuting seven people and two legal entities for participating in an organized criminal group, bribing or legalizing the proceeds of crime. The spokeswoman of the Municipal Court in Brno, Petra Láníčková, informed about the proposals for remand.

The place and time of custody hearings are not yet known, but they will probably take place today. No one has yet officially confirmed the names of the people involved in the prosecution and potential detention.

Police officers from the National Headquarters against Organized Crime intervened in Brno on Tuesday. They detained ten people. Criminal investigators searched the premises of the housing department of the Brno municipality, the town halls of the Brno-sever and Brno-Černovice districts, they were also in Pískovná Černovice at the company manager Jiří Hasoně (KDU-ČSL). The police also asked the deputy chairman of the KDU-ČSL, the current deputy mayor of Brno and candidate for the minister of the environment, Petr Hladík, to provide an explanation and access to the office. He said in a statement that he would cooperate with the police and that he was not accused of anything.

According to some media reports, the case has two branches. The first concerns the attempt to take over the municipal company Pískovna Černovice. In this regard, the police investigation mainly maps the activities of businessman Michal Horký, whom the police, according to the server, designates as the head of a six-member organized criminal group that wanted to control the city’s society. The second branch of the investigation once again concerns Horký and the group that allegedly acquired and subsequently sold apartment buildings and flats at a profit using fraudulent practices and bribery, the server iRozhlas.cz reported.

The police recently also intervened in Brno because of apartments in connection with the Brno-střed town hall. Eight people are accused in connection with this part of the city, two of them are in custody. One is the chairman of the housing commission from ODS Otakar Bradáč, the other is the executive of a real estate agency Zdeněk Červinka.
