Air Berlin to invest in Košice

23 May 2014

Air Berlin is in talks to build a development and design center in Slovakia’s “IT Valley” in Košice. The investment could total €10m and create 200 new jobs. The center will create special designs and refurbish German planes. The air carrier is also considering building a new hangar at the Košice airport for checking and changing aircraft landing gear. The director of Letiště Košice, Tomáš Jančuš, has offered to share the investment costs. Air Berlin said it had targeted Košice because of its highly educated workforce, which has attracted a cluster of high-tech companies to eastern Slovakia.
