According to the Rzeczpospolita daily, merger between Invest-Bank and Alior bank could take place this year, as talks on a potential deal of that nature said to be now underway. Owned by Zygmunt Solorz-Żak, Invest-Bank is a small lender with capital of just €460,000 (PLN 2m). Alior, which entered the Polish market few years ago and has been developing since then, is targeting an IPO on the Warsaw stock market. The play for Invest-Bank is part of this strategy to increase its assets in the run-up to going public on the bourse.
