Nearly 700 construction companies went into insolvency or bankruptcy in 2021, according to data from the National Trade Registry Office. Of these, three companies reported business of over RON 100 million in 2020, the rest being below this threshold.
The first ten construction companies that went into insolvency or bankruptcy last year had a combined turnover of RON 699 million in 2020. They are owned either by local entrepreneurs, or by foreign shareholders, or by the municipality of Bucharest, as is the case of the Municipal Consolidation Company.
