Alstom to refurbished Matrai power plant in Hungary

Alstom has won a HUF 3.7bn contract to refurbish two blocks of the Mátrai power plant in Hungary. The deal covers a full-scale renovation of the steam turbines of Block IV and V.
The French company is major player worldwide in power generation, power transmission as well as rail infrastructure.
Mátrai Erőmű is Hungary’s largest lignite-based power plant. It has a built-in capacity of 950 MW and produces 21 percent of the country’s energy output. Germany’s RWE controls a 50.9-percent stake in the plant, while ENBW controls 21.7 percent and the state-owned energy group MVM holds 25.5 percent.
