Amazon may fight for labor in Sered

7 March 2017

Amazon’s decision to set up its new logistic center in Sered, near Bratislava, will increase pressure on the labor market, as the region has lowest unemployment rates in Slovakia. Trend Reality writes that automotive manufacturers are struggling to find labor in the region, which has 3.2-percent unemployment. The overall unemployment in Slovakia was 8.6 percent in January, which is a historical low. Amazon plans to hire 1,000 employees in its new logistics center for returned goods over the next three years. The labor office in the regional city of Galanta, near Sered, has 1,100 free positions companies have been unable to staff. Production operators and unqualified workers are typically the most sought-after, and this is the kind of staff Amazon will also look to hire.
