Amazon planning new distribution center in Sered

6 March 2017

Amazon plans to open a new distribution center for returned goods in Sered, a city northeast of Bratislava. Amazon will lease the 60,000 sqm warehouse, one of the largest in Slovakia, from logistics provider Mountpark Logistic EU. Operations should start in the third quarter of this year. The center is expected to create more than 1,000 new jobs. Slovak Minister of Economy Peter Žiga said that Amazon will not get any state incentives. The investment volume was not disclosed. The logistics center in Sered will be the US e-retailer’s second investment in Slovakia. It has been leasing 6,000 sqm of office in Bratislava for its shared service center since 2011. Amazon employs 850 at its Bratislava center.
