Amazon has revealed plans to build a fourth fourth Maryland fulfillment facility in Baltimore’s Sparrows Point. The new shed will add 1,500 full time jobs to the company’s employee rolls which currently stand at over 5,000 people sortation and fulfillment centers in Baltimore and fulfillment center in northeast, Maryland. The new center will be about 7 miles from two Amazon warehouses located on the site of a former General Motors plant on Broening Highway. The Baltimore County Council voted unanimously last month to support a $2.2 million incentive package to bring Amazon to the industrial development being created at Tradepoint Atlantic.
“We’re excited to open a new, state-of-the-art fulfillment center in historic Sparrows Point and to continue innovating in a state committed to providing great opportunities for jobs and customer experience,” said Sanjay Shah, Amazon’s Vice President of North America Customer Fulfillment.
