Amazon Testing Air Delivery Drone

26 July 2016

Amazon and the British government have announced that they have started a series of tests in an attempt to start delivering packages to clients with the use of drones. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted the delivery company special permission to test the aerial vehicles. The new delivery system called Prime Air is currently being tested over Britain’s airspace to see whether it can safely manoeuvre around the city and deliver small parcels. Several concerns have been raised over the idea such as how to ensure that the pilot can control the aircraft without direct line of sight and whether it is possible to create the technology for drones to automatically avoid obstacles. The government has said that they also still need to convince the public about the safety and protection of privacy the delivery company will uphold once Prime Air is launched.
