Apple Hospitality REIT., located in Richmond, Virginia, has closed on the $38.4 million purchase of a hotel property in Birmingham, Ala. The dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn and Home2 Suites by Hilton, located at Second Avenue South and 17th Street, offers a combined total of 210 rooms. The hotel is situated in the heart of Birmingham’s downtown business district with easy access to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children’s of Alabama pediatric hospital and Regions Financial Corp.’s headquarters. The assets were recently opened by the seller and developer, Dothan, Al.-based LBA Properties.
