The Bulgarian government is planning to invest €4m into the construction of a sports arena in Shumen. In June, the city mayor, Lyubomir Hristov, unveiled the conceptual design of Arena Shumen, which will have a capacity of 2,500 spectators. The government has already allocated €250,000 to prepare the site for construction.
The arena will be used for sports as well as other social and cultural events. It will have training rooms, a gym, dining rooms and a conference room and media venues.
