Areva, the French company excluded from the Temelín nuclear power plant tender, again asked the antitrust office (UOHS) to halt the tender. But UOHS once again turned down the appeal. However, an injunction issued in November prevents ČEZ, Temelín’s power producer, from signing a contract with either of the other two participants in the tender. The evaluation process of the bids from US-Japanese Westinghouse and Czech-Russian Konsorcium MIR.1200 is set to conclude in February. ČEZ removed Areva from consideration in October for breaking the tender conditions. Areva claims that the UOHS rejected its request without reviewing all the facts about the case and says it would consider further steps.
The winner of the Temelín extension tender is scheduled to be announced in September, and a contract should be signed by the end of 2013. The extension should be completed by 2025.
