Auchan Retail Polska will launch another warehouse in the Upper Silesia region, which will be opened on the S1 expressway, in the newly emerging GLP logistics center in Lędziny, the network announced. The construction of the warehouse will be carried out in two stages and is to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
This is the first stage of the transformation of Auchan’s logistics infrastructure, in line with the assumptions of the new Supply Chain and Network Logistics strategy. 54,000 sqm of warehouse and office space will be built with food products in mind, it was reported.
“This investment best shows the direction in which the reconstruction of our logistics infrastructure is going. We focus on modern technologies, better use of the building, proximity to both our customers and suppliers – these elements will be repeated also in the subsequent stages of this restructuring. preparations for the expansion of our new concept of convenience stores under the Easy Auchan brand, implemented in cooperation with bp. In this respect, this is a strategic location for us,” said Piotr Dopierała, director of Supply Chain & Logistics at Auchan Retail Polska.
“The project in Lędziny is implemented in accordance with the new logistics real estate standard GLP Design Standard. The Auchan warehouse is distinguished by a storage height increased to 12 meters and a picking zone deepened to 24 meters, i.e. twice as deep as in a typical warehouse,” said Head of Technical Development in GLP Poland Christophe Brzeziński.
The lease contract for the building by Auchan Retail Polska was signed for 10 years.
