Austria completes Freistadt roundabout on S10

18 November 2014

Austria opened another section of the S10 motorway, which will eventually run to the Czech border. The 6 km Freistadt roundabout cost the Austrian state investor Asfinag €140m. The S10 motorway starts outside Linz. Once completed, the motorway will run to Wullowitz on the Austrian-Czech border, where it will connect to the Czech Republic’s R3 motorway. However, while the Austrians are actively working on the project, the R3 is still in the early planning stages on the Czech side. The Austrians plan to build the S10 only as far as Freistadt, about 15 km from the border, and then wait for the Czechs to complete work on the R3, writes the server e15.
