21 April 2020

Ministers in Austria’s government have agreed to donate the equivalent of one month’s net salary to an organization specialized in aiding people who have been hurt economically by the pandemic. The symbolic move is intended to illustrate their solidarity with fellow citizens, according to Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler. Millions of Austrians are in financial straits because of the lockdown that’s only recently begun to loosen. Vice Chancellor Kogler claimed it was an important gesture by the government that should help promote social cohesion.
