Automobile sector crashes 84% in Portugal

The European car market fell 76.3% in April, compared to the same month in 2019, thanks to the forced closings of dealerships across the continent. In Portugal, the automobile market dropped 84.6 percent in April, compared to the same month of 2019, having registered 3,803 vehicles, according to new data from the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP).

Over the first four months of the year, just 56,744 new vehicles were registered for use in the country, a drop of nearly 40 percent compared to the same period in 2019. The country has begun to reopen its economy after 50 days in lockdown.
