Hungarians spent an average of HUF 10,907 on household energy in 2016, according to the Central Statistics Office (KSH). Consumers spent HUF 3,824 per month on gas, HUF 3,480 on electricity, HUF 2,642 on solid fuels and HUF 953 on hot water, the data shows. Spending on solid fuels grew by 8 percent y-o-y in 2016, with the price increasing by 3.2 percent. Consumers also spent 5.6 percent more on gas, even as gas prices decreased by 0.8 percent, resulting in a boost in consumption, according to KSH.
