Azerbaijan was the largest foreign investor in Montenegro over the six months of 2019. Between January and June, investors from 82 different countries pumped €227.3m into the country, a 50 percent hike from the same period in 2018. According to the country’s central bank, which assembled the figures, the largest amount is coming from Azerbaijan. This includes the owners of Azmont Investments, which is working on the Portonovi resort project.
“According to preliminary data, the net inflow of foreign direct investment in the first six months of 2019 amounted to €227.3m, which is 48 percent more than in the same period last year,” wrote the bank. Hungarians were second largest investors, followed by Russians. The total volume of real estate investment came to €79.4m over the first six months, or 1.9 percent more than last year.
