The Balna Budapest Commercial and Cultural Center, known as the “Whale” was sold to the Hungarian state for HUF 11.2bn. The sale, green-lighted by the Budapest Municipal Council, is expected to be finalized by the end of June. as part of the deal, Hungarian National Asset Management will pay HUF 3bn in VAT directly to the National Tax and Customs Administration. Located near Liberty Bridge, the center was developed in a public-private partnership and opened in 2013.
