Baneasa Shopping City, developed by the prominent businessman Gabriel Popoviciu, was the highest performing mall in Bucharest last year, bringing in €33m. That’s a 10-percent increase from 2010. Inditex, Marinopoulus, Peek & Cloppenburg and Elmec, are among the companies paying the highest monthly rents in Baneasa, according to Wall Street.ro.
The turnover at the AFI Palace Cotroceni shopping center increased 8 percent last year to €25.27m, making it the second highest performing mall in Bucharest. AFI Palace Cotroceni, with a lettable area of 76,000 sqm, opened in late 2009, following an investment of €300m.
Meanwhile, Unirea Shopping Center, which has locations in Bucharest and Brasov, reported a €18.58m turnover for 2011, down 9 percent from 2010. Unirea Shopping Center Bucharest has a total lettable area of 44,500 sqm and is 88 percent occupied, while the Unirea shopping center in Brasov has 16,900 sqm and is 85 percent occupied.
The 2011 turnover at Bucharest Mall, the capital’s first shopping center, was €16.41m, down from €17.58m in 2010.
Sun Plaza brought in €14.7m last year, while Plaza Romania reported €12.43m; Grand Arena was at €7.74m and rounding things off was Liberty Center with €4.17m.
