Barceló Hotel Group rebranding hotels to Occidental

21 March 2017

Barceló Hotel Group is rebranding some of its hotels to Occidental, a step that’s being perceived as the most profound change the Spanish hotel chain has made to its brands in its 85-year history. The chain has started expanding its Occidental brand, which offers affordable services to business clientele. Two hotels in Prague 4 and 5 will be renamed to Occidental Praha and Occidental Praha Five. Barceló Old Town in the historic city center will keep its name as well as Barceló Brno Palace. The new brand will help Barceló Hotel Group with its expansion efforts. In 2016, the group added 12 new hotels with 1,923 rooms to its portfolio. The biggest acquisitions took place in Spain, the Canary Islands, Panama and Mexico. In Prague, the group opened Occidental Praha Wilson on Wenceslas Square.
