The Czech government intends to push through a law that would make it easier and quicker for the state to buy land needed for “strategic projects” from owners who don’t want to sell. The new law would go along with statutes giving parliament the right to approve routes that key new roads and motorways would take.
Hospodařské noviny writes that the first change to the existing law on such land purchases is to make the price offered by the state more realistic. “The amendment is ready”, says deputy Martin Kolovratník (ANO). “The principle is that anyone who reacts quickly [to the state’s bid] will receive more money.” Current offers from the state are, on average, CZK 30 per sqm. Under the new system, this should rise to CZK 100 per sqm.
