BIK: Residential loan value increased by 403.4% y/y to PLN 10.3 billion in January

Sale of housing loans amounted to PLN 10.299 billion in January, an increase of 403.4% y/y, according to the data of the Credit Information Bureau (BIK). In volume, the number of housing loans granted last month increased by 304.9 % y/y to 25 thousand.

The greatest growth dynamics were recorded by both in terms of the number (+304.9%) and in terms of value (+403.4%). The reason for such a high credit recovery may be, among others, rising property prices and greater availability of mortgage loans, it was reported.

In January this year, the value of housing loans exceeded PLN 10 billion and thus was the largest in history. Compared to January 2023. The value of this January lending activity increased fivefold,” said the Head of the Analysis Team of the Credit Information Bureau Sławomir Nosal.

The record-old January result is the result of the successive proceeding of applications under last year’s “Safe loan 2%” program.

BIK Quality Index of the Residential Credit Portfolio was 1.78% and decreased by 0.01 percentage points m/m, also given.
