Prague’s long-delayed Blanka tunnel project will not be completed before municipal elections in October. One of the key contractors, ČKD-DIZ, said Monday that it won’t be able to complete the tunnel’s technologies until April 2015. Prague’s deputy mayor, Jiří Nouza, told Hospodářské noviny that the city will try to get the work expedited, while sticking to all safety measures and tests. Negotiations are underway between city officials and the contractors. The T0P 09 political party is pushing to open the Blanka tunnel in the first week of October, but the newspaper reports that this additional delay is result of political infighting.
