The Blue City shopping centre in Warsaw will invest more than PLN 20 million in, among other things, a photovoltaic installation, electric car charging stations and new facilities for customers and tenants of the shopping centre, the centre reported. The Blue Parking subsidiary has sold a plot of land for this purpose, on which rental flats will be built in the future.
“We have been planning this transaction for a long time. We will use the funds we obtain from the sale of the plot entirely for investment. Our plan is to build a photovoltaic installation, an electric car charging station, reduce the energy intensity of the building, as well as numerous new facilities for customers and our tenants in both the retail and office parts of the building. On the other hand, the planned construction of a residential building in close proximity means a new loyal group of customers for us. I am convinced that the planned investments will increase the value of Blue City, but just as importantly, they will increase the comfort of shopping for our customers and work for our tenants,” said Blue City vice-president Yoram Reshef.
The sale transaction concerns a plot of land located behind a multi-storey car park, at Opaczewska Street and Bohaterów Września Avenue in Warsaw.
The first works in connection with the planned investments will start at the beginning of the second half of 2024, with the entire programme to be completed within the next year and a half.
Currently, there are around 200 tenants operating in Blue City, leasing over 96% of the facility’s retail space. A total of around 1,500 people work in the shopping centre. At the same time, the company manages office space of more than 33,000 m2, located in the shopping centre complex.
