BMW is now considering building a logistics center in the Czech Republic instead of Germany. The car producer planned to build the center on a 50 ha plot outside Regensburg, but Die Welt revealed that a local farmer whose family has rented the land from the Thurn-Taxis family since 1860 refuses to leave. But even if the farmer was ordered to vacate, the court would likely grant him a few years to move. This scenario would essentially kill the BMW project, where 2,000 jobs are at stake, writes the paper. BMW had hoped create a total of 5,000 new jobs in Germany this year.
