Boskovice in the Blansko region is planning a sports complex called Červená zahrada (Red Garden), where a sports hall, which is missing in Boskovice, will be built. There will be several independent stages, with the total investment being in the billions of crowns, said Mayor Jana Syrovátková (Změna 22) at a press conference today. The sports facilities in the Červená zahrada locality are functioning, and the town was looking for a more suitable solution for them. Boskovice has been dealing with the Červená zahrada sports ground and the new sports hall for several years.
Last June, the town announced an architectural competition for the sports complex, which attracted 11 projects, and an independent jury selected the design by the Boskovice studio of Martin Dolezel as the best of them. “The winning design looks very harmonious to me, it is well prepared. What I appreciate about it is its humility and work with space. It is not something that is not feasible, it is not economic nonsense. It is something that is achievable even in the relatively near future, while working well with the space for both athletes and the public,” the Mayor said.
The Red Garden sports ground is in operation, with facilities such as football pitches and tennis courts. The winning proposal redesigned the site, adding mainly a sports hall, the tennis courts will be moved to another part, and the football pitches, both main and training, will be arranged differently.
“First we want to build what we don’t have in Boskovice, and that is a sports hall. We know its location and it is such that it can be built almost immediately, there is no requirement for further investment,” said the Mayor. The hall itself should cost about 150 to 200 million crowns, it will be the first stage of works. Tennis and volleyball courts and parking areas will follow. The number of parking spaces including underground garages of the sports hall should be 300, without underground garages 220. The third stage is a part of the football fields. According to the mayor, the entire investment will be in the billions.
This year, the city plans to get a study for the sports hall and a project for a building permit, or at best apply for and get a building permit. Next year, Boskovice would like to get to the detailed design documentation and select a contractor for the hall. According to the mayor, construction could start in 2026.
Boskovice has about 11,500 inhabitants. The Boskovice administration has been working on the modifications of the sports complex Červená zahrada for years, as well as the location of the sports hall. Back in 2016, the then management presented a study that dealt with the solution of the sports complex, which was prepared in three variants. New sports facilities were to be created and, above all, a sports hall. The costs were calculated at around CZK 200 to 300 million.
