Bosnia plans to apply for EU membership by the end of this year, says Dragan Covic, the Croat chairman of the inter-ethnic presidency. Bosnia signed an association agreement with the EU in 2008, but the process dragged on until June 2014, when Germany and Britain renewed the membership bid by focusing on economic and social issues, rather than on political ones. Since then, the ethnically divided nation has agreed on a reform agenda and a timetable for its implementation.
