Yesterday, the council of the Brno-střed district dismissed the accused Otakar Bradáč (ODS) from the position of chairman of the Housing, Property and Dislocation Commission due to the case of allocating apartments. It also mandated the Internal Audit and Control Department to conduct the audit. Kateřina Dobešová, spokeswoman of the town hall, informed about this in a press release today. In the case of manipulation of apartments at the Brno-střed town hall, the police are prosecuting eight people, two of whom ended up in custody, namely the local politician Bradáč and the executive of the real estate agency Zdeněk Červinka.
According to the spokesperson, the subject of the audit will be an investigation into the process of allocating apartments according to the rules for renting apartments in the Brno-střed district and the criteria and method of selecting applicants for renting an apartment. The Council also entrusted the relevant department with the preparation and execution of a system audit, the aim of which is to identify and reduce risks in the allocation of flats in the administration of the Brno-střed district.
The council also authorized the secretary of the office to ask the police for more detailed information about the subject of the investigation, including which members of self-governing bodies or employees of the office are involved in the criminal proceedings. It should also be asked if the district is being treated as a victim in the current criminal proceedings and whether the investigated actions of the accused have caused damage to the district, or how much.
“It is absolutely obvious that this is a very serious offence, to which we will respond adequately and draw consequences from it. Either through systemic changes in the allocation of apartments or by strengthening inspection activities,” said the mayor of the Brno-střed district, Vojtěch Mencl (ODS).
The police interviewed 30 people in connection with the case, conducted 28 house searches and searches of other premises. She accused eight people. In addition to Bradáč and Červinka, among those prosecuted are the representative of the ANO movement in Brno-Černovice, Radim Suchánek, who worked at the Real Estate Administration Brno-střed, but the secretary reassigned him elsewhere today. According to Czech Television, the others are Červink’s companion Eva Vágnerová and Kateřina Pospíšilová, Jiří Povolný, Ludvík Kraus and Marek Horvath, who, according to CT, are linked to the Brno real estate market.
