Bran castle is ranked second in a chart of the most expensive properties in the world and first in Europe, according to Forbes magazine. Using its own classification system, it listed the famous icon as being worth $140m.
It lost out in the world rankings only to a $165m property in Beverly Hills, California, built in 1926. in third place was an Aspen ski resort, owned by Saudi prince Bandar bin Sultan, which Forbes listed at $135 m.
Located almost 30 km from Brasov, Bran Castle currently hosts the Bran Museum which displays an extensive collection of armor, weapons, furniture and ceramic works. The castle’s yard also contains a small village museum, with traditional houses from Rucar-Bran region.
The museum attracts hundreds of thousands of Romanians and foreign tourists interested in the castle’s history, as it is closely connected to the legend of Count Dracula.
