Brasov a new target for retail investors

12 June 2012

Cora, Auchan and the South African Investment Fund NEPI in partnership with Carrefour Brasov are planning to develop large commercial centers, as the city does not currently have a single mall of more than 20,000 sqm.

Cora is hoping to build on the former Hidromecanica site it bought two years ago near the city center. Auchan acquired the old Tractorul area earlier this year, while NEPI bought land from Dan Sucu, who owns the Mobexpert store near Carrefour’s hypermarket to develop a shopping center.

It remains to be seen whether all three investors can be successful with their development plans in a city with just 230,000 inhabitants.
