Bratislava’s city assembly is expected to discuss terminating its contract with Transprojekt for the reconstruction of the city’s main train station. Work on the building, including the handover of a reconstructed tram station, is supposed to be completed under the terms of the contract, by the end of 2016. Deputy Martin Maruška intends to call for the contract to be ended at Thursday’s meeting of the city’s legislative body, as he claims the city has received no signs that work on the project will move forward, or that the deadline will be met.
“We propose that the legal department negotiate with the investor about conditions for ending the contractual relationships, or that documents on the termination of the contract on a future sale be prepared,” reads a key sentence from the materials due to be presented to the assembly. Transproject is led by Igor Ballo, who had hoped to acquire 22,000 sqm of land around the main train station in return for the station’s reconstruction, on which he planned to build a shopping center.
