BRE Bank: Polish economy disappointed in 2012

Comparing data from the National Polish Bank and the Polish Statistical Office, brokers from BRE Bank said the country’s economy fared worse than expected last year. Brokers said economic indicators all decreased last year, including retail sales, which slumped by 2.5 percent in December, compared with the same period the previous year. Bloomberg had been forecasting a slight improvement. The jobless rate, meanwhile, hit 13.4 percent in December, up from 12.9 percent in November. Analysts were predicting a jobless rate of 13.3 percent. The manufacturing sector also fell by as much as 6 percent.
