Brno secured a 2 ha site adjacent to the Masaryk University campus to build a new athletic hall. The owner of the land, CD XXI, agreed to give the city the parcel in exchange for several sites at Královo Pole, on Dornych and Leitnerova streets and in the city’s Bystrc and Starý Lískovec districts, writes the weekly Týden. The city hopes to be able to start construction in early 2018. Brno Deputy Mayor Richard Mrázek told the weekly that the city will chose a project manager in a tender. The project manager will be responsible for securing the planning and construction permits. The hall, with a capacity for 2,000, is expected to cost CZK 500m.
