CTP and Brno representatives signed a contract on Wednesday greenlighting construction of a 100,000 sqm warehouse for Amazon at the Černovická terrace industrial zone. City officials approved the investment only after Remon Vos, CTP’s CEO, promised that the developer will pay for the land needed for a new exit from the D1 motorway that will help relieve increased traffic in the vicinity of the zone.
The developer expects the land for the exit will cost CZK 60m, while another CZK 6.5m will be needed to finance improvements to the local crossroads and to build a bus terminal. The land needed to build the Amazon distribution center will cost CTP CZK 217m, and the city will collect a CZK 26m contribution to its coffers. In all, CTP’s total costs for the new distribution center are expected to top out at CZK 2.7bn. Amazon wants its new distribution center completed by fall, in time for the 2014 Christmas shopping season.
