Brno New Station Development a.s. is planning to invest CZK 250m into modernization of Brno’s main train station. The company signed a 40-year lease agreement with Czech Railways. The head of Brno New Station Development, Jiří Hos, says that the company won the tender in 2008 and has since been preparing the project. The Art Nouveau station originally opened in 1839 and is a protected landmark. RAW architects designed the renovation. The studio also oversaw the reconstruction of another famous Brno building, Vila Tugendhat. Brno New Station Development plans to modernize 800 sqm of operational space, 2,100 sqm of commercial space and 1,500 sqm of public space.
