Bryan Wilson and the other panelists had an open and frank discussion of the perils of investing in the hotel sector, stressing the need to work with experienced operators and to conclude strong management contracts that delineate responsibilities carefully as well as creating sufficient incentives for success. It was clear from Andreas that banks are indeed prepared to finance hotel but as Chris and I stated many times, hotel ownership and/or operation is not easy. Yes, it’s sexy, but only if the owner or operator are prepared to put in hard work. Ownership and operation are not necessarily marriages made in heaven and clients who move into the hotel sector need to understand and appreciate this,“ said Bryan Wilson, a founding partner at Wilson & Partners.
