The Bucharest-Pitesti highway will open in mid-May 2012, said Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu after a visit to the highway’s construction site.
Transport Minister Alexandru Nazare said that 56 km of highway have been completed, including the entire route to the Ploiesti ring road (with the exception of 6 km of urban highway from the Bucharest ring road to Sector 2, which will be soon completed).
When asked what measures would be taken in the case of delays, Nazare said constructors will be penalized.
