Budapest is replacing Vienna as the headquarters for Nokia’s Central European operations. The company currently employs 50 workers in Vienna, out of which 30 will probably lose their jobs. Those who are willing to relocate to the Hungarian capital can reportedly keep their jobs. It’s still unclear precisely which tasks will now rely on the new headquarters. The Finnish mobile-company announced it would be laying off a total of 17,000 employees worldwide in an attempt to improve efficiency and regain some of the momentum its lost to competing mobile phone producers. The Hungarian factory of Nokia in Komárom has not been spared, receiving instruction to discharge half of its employees.
