The number of building permits for new houses on the Hungarian market hit 13,000 in the first half of the year, up from 7,000 at the end of 2015, according to state statistics. The substantial growth has prompted the Hungarian government to increase funding on its home purchase subsidy scheme for families. The government is planning to pour HUF 211bn into the program next year.
