The number of building permits issued on the Romanian market jumped by 8.9 percent between May and April, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics. The figures represent a 1.9-percent y-o-y increase in May. In the first five months of the year, a total of 14,185 permits for residential buildings were issued.
More than 64 percent of the permits issued in May were for residential projects in rural areas. There were 587 permits issued for non-residential projects, including 21 administrative buildings, up from 559 issued in April.
