Bulgaria posts monthly deflation of -0.7 percent in March

Bulgaria’s consumer price index in March 2016 compared to February 2016 was 99.3 percent, putting the monthly inflation at -0.7 percent, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). The inflation rate since the beginning of 2016, has been -1.0 percent, and the annual inflation in March 2016 compared to March 2015 was -1.5 percent.

The annual average inflation, as measured by CPI, in the last 12 months, April 2015 to March 2016, compared to the previous 12 months was -0.2 percent.
The main consumer groups that registered decreases in March 2016 included food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.9 percent), clothing and footwear (-1.1 percent), transport (-1.7 percent) and communications (-1.9 percent).
