Happy Restaurants, Bulgaria’s largest restaurant chain, is entering Romania and will open its first space in the middle of next year in AFI Cotroceni.
The Bulgarians had considered entering the Romanian market in 2010 through a franchise system, but stopped their plans after the financial crisis broke. Now, the company plans to open at least five restaurants in the next five years in Bucharest.
“We have been prospecting the Romanian market for some time and are excited to bring our brand to the local market. We are confident that this strategic move will open a new page of success in Happy’s history, now in Romania. The first step is already taken because Happy Restaurants is known by a part of the Romanians who spend their holidays in Bulgaria or other European cities, and soon we will have the honour to welcome them in our restaurants here as well,” said Ivan Popov, CEO of Happy Restaurants.
In 28 years, the European restaurant chain has reached more than 40 units in Europe, including 35 restaurants in Bulgaria and 5 in Spain (Barcelona) and the UK (London).
