Bulgarian posts €1.42bn budget surplus in May

6 July 2016

Bulgaria reported a consolidated budget surplus of about €1.42bn at the end of May, representing 3.1 percent of the forecasted GDP, according to the latest report published by the finance ministry. By comparison, the consolidated budget surplus for the same period last year was €717m, equivalent to 1.3 percent of GDP.

“The increase is due both to the growth of revenues and the containment of expenditures as compared to the same period of the previous year,” the Finance Ministry wrote on its website.
